Everyone loves Pi!

 

An article posted on PR Daily discussed all of the different social media tactics companies implemented for the infamous Pi day. Depending on the company and what angle they wanted to focus on, some did promotions about the mathematical side of Pi day and others chose the more literal focus on edible pie.

disney piAfter browsing through the different social media examples, most of them were extremely funny and engaging. Even NFL football teams were getting involved with the Pi Day marketing by posting photos of players with the jersey numbers “3” and “14”.

This article got me thinking about what holidays Squeeze Juice Works could get involved in throughout the year. For Pi Day, maybe they could even have a pie themed cold-pressed juice of the day called “3.14”. The drink could be marketed on their social media pages to get consumers engaged.

I think getting involved in holidays is a fun way to connect with customers and show a more personable side of a brand.
In our homework we discussed different communication tactics that can be incorporated into our campaigns and after reading this article, I am feeling a bit more inspired for some tactics. Special events and social media could both be extremely successful for certain holidays and allow for PR teams to implement their creativity.

    I really enjoyed reading your blog post and how you related Pi day back to Squeeze. It’s truly amazing how social media can take ahold of national holidays such as Pi Day, Valentine’s Day, etc and turn these days into contests, hashtags, campaigns, and more! Squeeze needs to hop on this trend. Even if Squeeze didn’t do something for Pi Day, I’m sure there’s a national holiday for being green, being healthy, juicing, fruits, etc.

    As you stated, getting involved in holidays is such a fun way to connect with customers and show a personable side of the brand. Amy stated she wasn’t interested in doing too much discounts or coupons, but Squeeze could incorporate a new drink for a upcoming holiday. For example, Earth Day or a “going green” day could showcase one of Squeeze’s super healthy and super green drinks.

    Reading your blog really helped get my mind flowing with even more new ideas for Squeeze!

    I thought this was an interesting way to see how companies handle their social media accounts on holidays, even ones as small as Pi Day. I thought the Coca Cola one was genius; the pie looked good driving traffic to the recipe on their website which probably includes their product.

    I liked your idea about having your company do the cold press juices; I think more companies could use holidays and events in cities to their advantage with personal and elaborate marketing and PR tactics.

    How interesting is to see how companies can become creative to handle a situation. I like the idea you incorporated to Squeeze to become involve in the thing that are happening out there. Enjoy reading the article.
