Extra Credit Blog
In case you haven’t heard the news, the life of a Marketer, PR professional and all other communications roles alike just got a whole lot easier. For the tactical responsibilities you have when you are in the industry of public relations, posting content via Instagram is usually a part of your day at least twice a day maybe more. Having to log into and out of your personal account for your professional account was a hassle and takes precious time when timing can be specific depending on which public you want to target. Commuters tend to look at posts at 7:45 a.m. and again at 5:45 p.m. This new feature on Instagram allows you to have up to five accounts linked in the app and can switch from account to account very easily.
Tamar Weinberg a writer for Marketing Land describes this new process in her article on the new feature to support multiple accounts on Instagram. “This was a heavily requested feature for years” says Weinberg on how marketers didn’t have an ideal situation with how Instagram was previously set up. “The company finally recognized that many heavy-duty users, including marketers, want to assert their individuality through visual imagery and share their brand’s marketing messages while on the go.” Being an intern that has to post via Instagram–this cuts time down to post by 5 minutes and has been a blessing since I can now post when I am in a time crunch.
