I found this article interesting because it comes from someone who has worked in the industry for 20 years and comments on what are the most important lessons of PR. It talks about the different parts of public relations that aren’t exactly in the job description itself. It talks about the clientele and how one is supposed to be able to hire and fire clients and not believe everything one says. Also how to be able to learn from failures and take the road less travelled in order to be able to succeed in the world of PR.
This article talks about the different tactics he had used and how he succeeded in the life of public relations and how he failed in the life. He talked about in 2006 how he had two separate clients who had promised certain aspects of helping the company and how they would improve it, when in the end both companies dropped his company. One had promised to sign a $10 million dollar contract and the other had promised to triple the budget in a month. The company had hired new people to compensate the new clients and in the end the company fired the $10 million dollar contract and the other went to another company.
The article talks about the struggles of PR and how to overcome problems and progress through the company to be able to learn from mistakes of PR and its job.
